Following successful hospital study ITAB Lighting supply innovative coloured LED lighting system at Southampton General Hospital
A ground-breaking study by the Bergische Universität Wuppertal and the Helios Clinic, Germany, between 2017 and 2019 showed that colour alone in intensive care units can reduce the need for painkillers by a third. The positive effects of the intervention not only affect patients, but also the staff, whose condition is known to have a strong impact on the recovery process of patients. The positive evaluation of the care measures increased by almost 30% among patients after the introduction of colour.
ITAB Lighting in conjunction with Southampton University Hospital Trust, Hulley & Kirkwood, and Reavey Electrical have designed, supplied and installed an RGB colour changing linear wallwashing system in the new GICU unit in Southampton General Hospital.
This offers the ultimate in flexibility to enable staff to vary the colours within each single room.
